Information

Pérez Art Museum Miami is the largest art museum in Miami, specializing in Latin American art. This new site also marks the first time that PAMM is getting their collection digitized, and by that can give the visitor a bit of the experience of being there physically.

We took that idea further by capturing the sky above the museum at any given moment and bringing those colors into gradients around the site. An abstracted window to being in Miami. The site changes with the seasons and can look quite different at any given time.

About

A new museum website experience

Designed with a focus on a tailored user experience, the website showcases the museum's diverse collection of latin american art, exhibitions, and educational programs. Visitors can easily navigate through the site, explore artwork, learn about artists, and stay informed about upcoming events.

Explore Part - Collections

The PAMM website serves as a virtual gallery, extending the museum's mission of fostering creativity and cultural engagement to a global audience. This part of the site is growing as we speak, and will only get better over time.

Relaunch of platform. Concept, Design & Front-end Development. Year 2022

What did Spring/Summer create for Pérez Art Museum Miami?

Spring/Summer designed and front-end developed the new digital platform for Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), launched in 2022 on WordPress. We led concept, design, and front-end development for Miami's largest art museum, building a site that captures the feeling of being in Miami, even for visitors on the other side of the world.

What technology powers the PAMM platform?

The PAMM platform runs on WordPress. WordPress gives the museum's team a familiar editorial foundation for exhibitions, education, membership, and events, with the flexibility to publish quickly around programming. Our custom front-end handles the more expressive layer of the site, from the live-Miami-sky gradients to the exhibition-led colour system and the digitised collection.

What was the brief Spring/Summer was given?

The brief was to capture the feeling of being at Pérez Art Museum Miami: drawing in the Miami sky and making it part of the experience, even when you are far, far away. It also marked the first time PAMM's collection was digitised, so distant visitors could get a real taste of the physical experience, and turn a curiosity from anywhere into a visit.

What design and strategic decisions shaped the project?

The live Miami sky above the museum is captured and rendered as gradients around the site: an abstracted window to being in Miami that changes with seasons and time. Each exhibition has its own colour set, so the visual language shifts with the programme. The Explore section is built as a virtual gallery of the digitised collection that grows over time. Galleries, video, and editorial content are all designed to tease the on-site experience.

What was the outcome of the PAMM launch?

PAMM's new platform launched in 2022 as the museum's digital home, and became the first place PAMM's collection could be explored online. The work went on to win a Creative Circle Silver in Company Websites / Large Corporations and a Webby Awards Honorable Mention. More importantly, it gives Miami's largest art museum a digital surface that carries the atmosphere of the physical space to visitors anywhere in the world.

Who is this case relevant for?

This case is for museums, cultural institutions, and place-based brands where the digital experience has to carry a strong sense of physical place. We work with institutions that treat their website as an extension of the space, not a separate marketing channel. If you are reimagining a museum's digital presence, this is the work we love.
